Part L Compliance Service
Ensuring that the building design complies with TDG Part L can be demanding. Not only can envelope U-values be varied but there are numerous permutations of heating systems, hot water heating systems, ventilation systems, solar systems, thermal bridges, etc. that, together, determine compliance.
For a given dwelling we derive several Part L compliant designs which allows the owner/architect to choose the “scheme” of features/options that suits best. Each solution compares capital costs, operating and maintenance costs. Please see the summary page of a typical report below. This is our Service No. 1 and the fee is €200 + VAT.
Other services we provide related to dwellings are:
- The above analysis will consider heat pumps as an option but if a heat pump is finally opted for then detailed calculations have to be carried out and the SEAI form, “DEAP Heat Pump - Designer/ Installer Sign Off Form” signed off.
- Checking of Thermal Bridging compliance with the Acceptable Construction Details (ACD’s) drawings as issued by the Department of Environment. The outcome of this will be the set of ACD drawings for the building. If the proposed construction does not comply with the ACD’s, then suggestions will follow.
- Schedule of information/data that has to be assembled by the Contractor to ensure that on completion of build, the BER Assessor has the required DEAP input data. Architects incorporate this into their tender documents as a final account delivery item.
- Specification of vents required to comply with Parts F & J. This is important where air tight buildings incorporating stoves, etc, are concerned.
- Provision of Building Control Ancillary Certificate (Design) for all Parts L, J & F.
- Preparation of Heating System specification based on the “scheme” chosen in 1 above. This allows the Architect to obtain competitive quotations and sets down standards of workmanship, layout, equipment, etc.
- Preparation of Electrical Specification for all electrical work. This allows the Architect to obtain competitive quotations and sets down standards of workmanship, layout, equipment, etc.
